My father would often encounter one of these small creatures while turkey hunting, sometimes tucking one in his pocket before returning home. I was always amazed at the Red Spotted Newt’s brilliant red color and tiny size of only 2" to 2 1/2" long. As dad and I walked into the woods to return the newt, dad would mention the importance of caring for the environment. This piece was created for a group challenge with a theme of “Creatures Great and Small”.
