Taking that first step towards change is the key to unlocking a future beyond our current circumstances.

Chauncey Depew

These wise words by Chauncey Depew resonate deeply with many of us on our journey toward personal growth. Like you, I’ve found myself at the crossroads of aspirations and actualization, especially when it comes to transforming dreams into tangible achievements. In this blog post, I’m excited to share a new approach that I’m trying this year, one that involves dedicating just 30 minutes a week to crafting an action plan, and the remarkable impact it can have on our life goals and self-esteem.

Identify Your Focuses

As we go through the complexities of life, it’s essential to identify our main priorities for the year. Take a moment to reflect on your overarching goals and distill them into a few keywords or short phrases. For example, my primary focuses this year revolve around producing more artwork, improving my health, and achieving success in my business endeavors. These focuses serve as guiding beacons, leading me toward a purposeful and intentional life.

The Science Behind Writing Things Down

Scientific studies have shown that writing things down can help us to remember information better. Even if you’ve already planned your goals, it’s a good idea to revisit them and write them down. This simple yet powerful exercise will help you to firmly establish your goals in your mind, which in turn can foster a sense of commitment to achieve them.

Spending just 30 minutes once a week to write down an action plan toward your goals can be a game-changer. By doing so, you will have a clear roadmap of what needs to be done in the upcoming week to get closer to your goals. This practice will help you prioritize your tasks and avoid wasting time on unimportant activities. Additionally, writing down your plan will provide you with a sense of accountability, making it more likely that you will stick to your goals and follow through on your commitments. Overall, dedicating a small portion of your week to creating an action plan can be an effective way to achieve your goals and ensure that you are continually making progress toward them.

Action Steps for Your Focuses

It is essential to convert your goals into achievable steps to effectively accomplish them. You can think of specific actions or measures for each goal area. For instance, if your objective is to “Produce” something, you can allocate specific hours to focus on it. Conversely, if your aim is to “Follow Through” with your objectives, you can establish healthy routines to stay on track. Similarly, if you want to “Commit” to something, it is beneficial to set clear business objectives. By identifying these steps, you position yourself to make significant progress.

In addition to identifying specific actionable steps, it’s important to carve out time to focus on your goals. Even if you have a busy schedule, dedicating just 30 minutes a day to a task that moves you closer to your goal can make a significant difference. Of course, finding the time to do so can be challenging, but it’s crucial to prioritize your goals and hold yourself accountable. By making a consistent effort to work towards your goals, even if it’s just for a short period every day, you’ll be amazed at how much progress you can make over time.

Additional Actions or To-Dos

Life is like a tapestry made up of various threads — some are related to our primary goals, while others are independent of them. It’s important to recognize the significance of managing additional tasks, such as taking inventory of art supplies or wrapping up lingering accounting tasks. However, it’s also crucial not to forget the importance of self-care in this process. This broader perspective ensures a holistic approach to personal development, fostering both fulfillment and wellness.

Celebrate Small Steps

As you begin your transformative journey, always remember that marathons are run one small step at a time. Every step you take, no matter how small it may seem, can lead to significant accomplishments. Even if your progress appears to be minor, it is crucial to celebrate it and recognize the cumulative impact of consistent effort. By acknowledging these small victories, you will gain the motivation and confidence to keep moving forward.

To Sum Up..

Incorporating just 30 minutes per week to create can make a significant difference in steering your life toward your desired destination. Moreover, setting aside at least 30 minutes every day to focus on activities that bring you closer to your goals is crucial.

I’m glad you’re chilling. Sometimes the best way to figure something out is to not think about it. 🙂

Thank you for sharing this Nancy! So, my three words for this month are organization, time management (does that count as one word?!) and website (MSA). Too much??? It is the way my mind works. I feel like if I can conquer the first two especially this month it will make it easier the rest of the year to focus on ‘produce’. I have so many ideas for paintings but not enough time! Thank you for being you.
